2021/2022 AGM

In June, Hub Velo members attended the club’s virtual Annual General Meeting, providing opportunities for the 2020/21 elected committee to present their updates on the club’s growth, community engagement and member communications.

Whilst managing the impact of the global pandemic continues to be a recurring theme, the investment in a new website and innovations like Spond to coordinate the club’s weekend rides are accelerating the club’s ambitions to improve its communications and engagement with members.

Hub Velo’s first-ever crit win, joining the LGBTQ+ cycling network, as well as participation in local charitable initiatives and International Women’s Day celebrations all highlight the progress in Hub Velo’s inclusive culture since its humble beginnings only six years ago.

Despite the turbulence and distractions of the last 18 months, the club’s finances remain in stable health. The recent addition of East London Brewing Company as an official club partner is another sign of Hub Velo boosting its profile and network in Hackney.

The meeting gave the club a chance to say thanks to committee member, Kevin Whitlock, for his unwavering passion and commitment as Hub Velo’s ride coordinator. Kevin, who has been replaced by Stephen McKee in the ride coordinator role this summer, now takes up a place as Vice Chair of Hub Velo.

Now, with restrictions lifting, and the growing presence of the new yellow, black & white Hub Velo jerseys spinning around the Essex and Hertfordshire country lanes, we are looking forward to growing our membership, expanding our ride calendar (including special rides for new members), and boosting our social activity with an exciting new elected Committee.
