Virtual Annual Awards - 2019 season
Sadly due to the coronavirus pandemic we were unable to hold the Hub Velo awards night looking back at the 2019 season. There were some amazing results, achievements and honour the riders who smashed it!
The club were determined to bring some lockdown joy, to hear what the members had to say about the 2019 season and to present the awards to the worthy winners. With the power of technology, we hosted the awards virtually on Saturday 3rd April and you can watch the full video below.
We asked members to describe their 2019 season
and the Club. Here are a few highlights:
“The year went too fast, but I didn’t go fast enough”

Ride Leader of the Year: Kevin Whitlock
This award goes to the member that steps up, makes the ride enjoyable and who allows you to explore the lush lanes and roads of Essex and London.
Club Member of the Year: Robbie de Santos
This awards goes to the member who gives the club that special feeling! This member is willing to get stuck in, improve the club for the better and make sure you enjoy being part of club.
Most Improved Rider: Shuhena Islam
Whether you’re a seasoned racer or someone who has just cycled for the first time this year, this award goes to the member who you think improved the most in 2019.
Rider’s Rider Award: Marika Nuthall
This award goes to a member who you think is the rider you aspire to become: whether they’re lapping up crit points for fun, cycling to the other side of the world nonstop or playing in the mud to win cross races in the cold dark winter months.

Male Road Race Award: Will Castro
Female Road Race Award: Marika Nuthall
TT Rider of the Year: Gary Boyd - 2nd year running!
Most Promising Newcomer: This award goes to the new member who made the biggest impact on the club and its members in 2019 - Lorenzo Batisti
HVCC Rider of the Year: This award is for the number one Hub Velo rider in 2019 - Zach Warren
